Are there caregivers available?
We have fairly limited availability currently but are recruiting for future positions. We have a search list of family positions and will check in with you regularly as we work on your position. Generally speaking, nanny availability is still quite low as many more families are using nannies since covid. We will do everything we can to match you with candidates but it's impossible to predict if or when we will be able to connect you with people to consider. (As much as we want to!)
How does matching work?
As soon as we have a potential match we will send you their nanny profile for your review. These candidates have been vetted by me and my team through interviews, background checks, driving record checks, CPR certification, reference screening and have completed our company child care training. You are welcome to meet the candidates that you are interested in by conducting facetime or zoom interviews to assess the fit, connection and potential risk of exposure. After a good interview, we will book some trial time for you to get to know each other in person and see how the fit with the kids and role feels in action. If all goes well you can offer a position and begin care. :)
What precautions will be taken?
We encourage parents and nannies to be fully vaccinated before beginning a search. Both the family and caregiver will be fully transparent with one another about any exposure and/or symptoms while working together. No care will be provided if a child, parent or caregiver has any covid symptoms or exposure to symptoms. Families and caregivers can decide together if they wish to wear masks during care depending on the level of exposure they are comfortable with.
What is the rate?
Caregiver rates start at $20 per hour. You are welcome to negotiate the rate with the caregiver directly. The company referral fee is $5 per hour and is billed monthly for the total number of hours of care for each month for up to one year of employment. Caregivers are considered household employees. We recommend consulting your accountant for guidance on nanny wage taxes. Poppins Payroll is a great service for household payroll and reporting.
Meet Jeanine-- the very first nanny I placed almost 10 years ago (and very good friend!) She is my nanny placement coordinator who will help you create your position and work to connect you with candidates. She will guide you through your interview and hiring process. Once you hire she will check in with you regularly to ensure a positive working relationship.
"I called Meredith & Co in a panic a few months ago when my scheduled babysitter canceled on me last minute. Meredith was able to provide me with EXCELLENT child care on very short notice. Kyra engaged my kids in such "out of the box" activities as building obstacle courses in their bedrooms in an effort to motivate them to read and brush teeth before bed. Needless to say, my kids love her and are always excited to have her return! More importantly, I feel very confident leaving my kids with the quality of care provided by Meredith & Co!"
"Working with Meredith has taken the stress out of finding child care. I used to spend a lot of time and energy finding sitters and then interviewing them, checking references, and building up trust. Often, after all that work, I'd still find myself scrambling to cover an evening out. Now, I send Meredith all our needs for the month, and she takes care of it. I know that any caregiver she sends is carefully selected and trained, so while we have regulars, I don't worry or do anything extra when it's someone new. Best of all, they are creative and energetic: the kids look forward to playing with them!"
"We first found Meredith when we were looking for a short-term but nanny to help fill the two month gap. Since our situation was unique, most traditional nanny agencies wanted nothing to do with us - but Meredith rose to the challenge. She spent the time to really get to know our family, and helped us better understand what we wanted from a caregiver. She sent us a variety of qualified, trustworthy and caring candidates. We were so pleased with our initial experience with Meredith, that now we go to her to help us source more caregivers for sporadic last-minute care - which has been a life-saver. We recommend Meredith & Co. wholeheartedly."
